TRAFFIC TICKETS

Getting a traffic ticket can be a headache.  For some people, it can result in losing your driver’s license and increased insurance costs.  Many times you get a ticket you don’t deserve in an area where it is difficult for you to go to court**. 

  I regularly handle traffic tickets in the Fremont, Oakland, Walnut Creek  and Pittsburg courts. (The traffic courts have closed in Pleasanton and Fremont.  All cases from those courts are being directed to Fremont or Oakland.) I am familiar with the legal process and can often use it to get a case dismissed.

I have won many speeding tickets, including radar, pace and lidar.  In other cases I can negotiate with the officer or judge for a reduction in charges. I may be able to help you get your license back.  

Red Light Camera tickets can be won, even if it is you.  I have not lost a Red Light Camera ticket in Alameda County.

 Traffic school may be available to wipe the ticket off your record and avoid the points and increased insurance costs. But if you get a second conviction in 18 months of going to traffic school, the ticket you went to school for will be unmasked and your insurance will see it.

If your traffic ticket was dated January 1, 2009 or later, it may qualify for the one time anmesty program.  Vehicle code section 42008.7 sets out the requirements.  This can save you 50% of the fine is your ticket(s) qualify.  However, it will treat the ticket as a conviction for your driving record.  although points are considered by the DMV for 3 years, they can remain visible on your driving record longer.

Although individuals with a commercial driver’s license are not eligible for traffic school, I can often get the officer to agree to allow you to resolve the matter for a violation that does not have any points.
